DESCRIPTION
This beautiful bag from Norbye is a new favourite. The bag is handmade and created by the incredibly talented Louise Norbye. The bags are made from one piece of biodynamic leather that is folded. As an extra detail, the inner material is the most beautiful suede. All the details are well thought out, which is evident at first glance. The brand offers high-quality, handcrafted bags made from the finest vegetable-tanned, biodynamic leather, minimizing both the company's internal and external environmental costs.
NORBYE is a Copenhagen-based brand, founded by designer and artisan Louise Norbye. With her bags, Louise aims to bridge sustainability with fashion, functionality and aesthetics, as well as immediacy and accuracy in the execution of the craft. Her designs draw from five sources of inspiration: Architecture, nature, music, fashion and old traditional arts and crafts. All bags are made according to Demeter's international standards.
At present, all production of NORBYE is carried out in Frederiksberg, Copenhagen. The skin is supplied by Uelihof in Germany and ProCert BAIV-certified Alpahirt in Switzerland, where the animals spend most of the year in the Swiss Alps and live long, healthy lives. Thanks to what they do at Alphahirt, their partner farmers can bring their older, worn-out cows, which have an average age of 10 years, directly to the nearby slaughterhouse. Nina Conrad, sustainability consultant and specialist in leather production, produces the leather for NORBY E. Tanning and dyeing takes place at the fine old southern German tannery August Renz Leder. Only vegetable tanning agents such as valonea oak and chestnut wood, mimosa bark and quebracho wood are used in the tanning process. No chrome basification, also called 'wet blue'. Only tannins, which occur naturally in the bark and leaves of many plants. This means a longer but environmentally friendly process.
